Loneliness

Climbers go up mountains to see loneliness small from above.
Cyclists pedal to leave loneliness behind.
People go out with friends, chat and laugh, sing and play music so that loneliness falls quiet.
On the road north they overtake loneliness;
in the ring they punch it in the face;
they get lost in books and films and songs so loneliness can't find them.

And you sit at home on a Friday, staring loneliness straight in the eye, and expect it not to crush you?
